Class Instructors

Kina Denton has been making jewelry for over 20 years and has a passion for experimenting with non-traditional materials. She also loves to use traditional materials in non-traditional ways. Bead-weaving, wire-working, knotting/braiding are her favorite techniques. If there is a way to turn an object into a piece of wearable art, she will do it. She has been an integral part of the Ayla’s Originals team since 1999.

Colette Quackenbush has a B.A. in Graphic Design, with a background in textiles and fashion. She brings her designer’s eye and hand skills to the art of jewelry making, particularly knotting and wire-wrapping. She enjoys teaching technique to her students and hopes to pass on the joy of beading.

Bianca Falanga is a Sophomore at New Trier High School and has been making beaded jewelry (and teaching her friends) for years. She learned the technique of peyote and spiral beading while attending arts camp each summer in Maine. A full-time high school student, Bianca is also a member of a contemporary dance company and enjoys time with friends, dance, travel, painting, sculpting ... and beading.

Silvana Tandeter, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, practices full time as a family physician. After long hours she goes to the beads for therapy. Silvana has been beading for as long as she can remember, and would love to share her craft with busy hands that would like to try it.

Cordelia Herman is a fabulous designer and one of Ayla's most wonderful staff members.
